How is it Friday?

Somehow it's Friday... It's been such a crazy week! We got home from Maine on Sunday, and Monday morning  I started taking classes at our local community college. This summer I'm taking three back to back 2 1/2 week math classes, and Student Development. Math is taking a TON of time each day, but I've done 8 weeks of math in four days. O_O
Aside from school, a highlight from this week was the season premiere of So You Think You Can Dance last night!! We had a party : )
Pretty sisters, Laney and Eli.

Hope you had a great week!

Thursday & Friday~ Lighthouses and the Old Port

Thursday was the first sunny day all week, so we decided to see some light houses. First up was the Portland Head Light, in Fort Williams Park. It's so beautiful there!

Then we went to this little cafe for lunch, they had some amazing food and wonderful coffee! {Hop over to SouleMama's blog to see her post about this spot}

Then we drove to this little light house,
 it's called Bug Light and I think it's completely charming. <3
Friday we drove around the Old Port, took pictures, ate bagels, and visited the art museum.
{BTW that's Henry Wadsworth-Longfellow- a local poet}

Inside the Portland art museum. We were there while there was a traveling Degas exhibit! {Squeal!}

This place was just down the street from our hotel, so cute!

AND, I got this while we were in Portland, it's a  big tote made out of an old coffee bean bag!

Tuesday & Wednesday in Maine

Tuesday and Wednesday were fantastic!
Tuesday morning I discovered that somehow, I'd managed to get a sunburn. After spending the day before outside {on a cold, cloudy Maine day} under an umbrella. Things that only happen to me...sigh. Tuesday we went to Alewives Fabrics store in Damariscotta, Maine. This fabric store is amazing! It's located in an old mill, and it has TONS of great fabric! We drove up from Portland on Route1, and it couldn't have been more beautiful!! After we bought far too much a substantial amount of fabric, and drove around the area for a bit. I'm completely in love with it!

We had a late lunch here, this restaurant was opened by Linda Bean, L.L.Bean's granddaughter.
BTW, the corn chowder there is incredible!!

Wednesday, we went to Alewives again, and took pictures in the fog.... so beautiful!

I'm going to be traveling home over the next two days, and classes start Monday, but hopefully I'll be able to finish posting about this week Monday afternoon!

Monday in Maine

This city is amazing. We're staying just a block away from the Old Port and the it couldn't be more beautiful!!
Monday, we went out with our umbrellas to see Portland in the rain. We wandered onto the north end of Congress Street [the central street in Portland]. We walked past vintage bookstores, a great yarn store, old churches, and several antique stores. We found a great pizza place called OTTO that serves pizza by the slice. Our favorites so far are the margherita, and the mashed potato & bacon pizzas. The rosemary, mint lemonade is yummy too!

This past weekend was so busy! Mama, Aunt Katie, Thomas, Eli, and I drove up to Syracuse, NY on Friday to celebrate my cousin Megan's graduation from ESF.
Getting to New York from Virginia took F-O-R-E-V-E-R. This is partially because we had to drive through Pennsylvania and partially because we were following my aunt's GPS: Lola. Lola was in need of being updated, so once we were in NY, she took us through the middle of nowhere, on back-roads and it felt like it took forever to get to the hotel. Once we had checked in we went right back out for dinner with Meg, Ryan, Steve, and Ben at a great Thai place in Syracuse.

Eli and Thomas on the drive up, aren't they cute?
 The stripes weren't even planned ;)

After graduation we went to Ben's family's farm for Megan's graduation party. It was so beautiful there, Ben grilled, we played bocce ball, and pool, visited the barn, saw their amazing garden, and I took a million pictures of cows. :-)

Finally, we said our good nights, and drove back to our hotel. Sunday morning we said goodbye to Thomas and Katie who drove home to Virginia, and we left for Maine. Mama, Eli and I are spending a week in Portland. We're planning on sightseeing, shopping, drinking coffee, visiting bakeries, and going to a museum or two. I'll blog more soon, right now I'm going to sleep :-)

3...2...1

This week has been great so far! I registered for Summer classes at LFCC, and Thomas & Eli moved up from Blacksburg. Mama, Katie, Eli, Thomas, and I are going to leave Friday for my cousin Meg's graduation from Syracuse University, on Saturday. Sunday Thomas and Katie will drive home, and Mama, Eli, and I will leave for our week in Maine!!

I'm so excited I've been counting down the days! We'll be staying in & around Portland and I can't wait!! We'll be visiting the Wadsworth-Longfellow house, Alewives Fabrics, Marginal Way, in Ogunquit, several bakeries, and we've heard quite a bit about a local gelato shop. :-) It should be a great week!
I'll try to update this more often while I'm away!

Today is your day! Your mountain is waiting. So get on your way! ~Dr.Seuss

The last few days have been so full! Since last Wednesday everyone has been coming down with a nasty virus that's been going around, fevers, stuffy noses, and sore throats, blech. Some of us are getting better, so there's light at the end of the tunnel!
Saturday was playing with Tilly and Joe's kids while they helped Eli and Thomas move their boxes up from Blacksburg. Sunday was Jenny, Bob, and Nomi's birthday party at the park, I can't BELIEVE I forgot the camera!! Monday was a meeting with my adviser to determine which math class I would be enrolling in. Sounds simple enough right? Wrong. It involved two trips to LFCC and three different people... O_o Tuesday was cleaning my room, spin class (ouch!), and helping Tilly with Eli and Thomas's room, they move in less than a week!! Today was work, grocery shopping, errands, laundry, and a little bit of photography. Tomorrow promises to be busy! Mama, Dee, Tilly, Joe, Eli, and Thomas are going to the Alamo Theater to watch a marathon of the avenger movies leading up to the midnight showing of The Avengers! I'm going to be running crazy central with Elaine, Max, Zelie, Jenny, Bobby, and Nomi. Wish me luck!  :-)

Some beautiful flowers, and the new floor in our edition!

Pretty flowers from our yard, any idea what they are?
