Friday's Fancies #1

Linking up with {av} over at Long Distance Loving today for my very first Friday's Fancies! My sister's been a part of it for quite a while, and I finally remembered to have her show me how! Make sure you check out my other sister's first Friday's fancies as well!

This week I've been painting, and re-organizing my entire bedroom, as well as getting my Etsy shop together!   I'm so excited to have a reason to craft a little bit more! ;) Today I'm going to be at my sister's house watching her three adorable kiddos while they watch the backhoe {and their landlord} replace the well pump.. . Hopefully they'll have running water back by the end of the day! A week from Sunday week my uncle's family will be coming down from Massachusetts to visit, so I'll get some time to spend with my cousins, relaxing by the lake for a few days. :-)
I'm going to try to be better about blogging over the next few weeks, maybe a post every-other day? We shall see.... Happy Friday!

How is it Friday?

Somehow it's Friday... It's been such a crazy week! We got home from Maine on Sunday, and Monday morning  I started taking classes at our local community college. This summer I'm taking three back to back 2 1/2 week math classes, and Student Development. Math is taking a TON of time each day, but I've done 8 weeks of math in four days. O_O
Aside from school, a highlight from this week was the season premiere of So You Think You Can Dance last night!! We had a party : )
Pretty sisters, Laney and Eli.

Hope you had a great week!

Thursday & Friday~ Lighthouses and the Old Port

Thursday was the first sunny day all week, so we decided to see some light houses. First up was the Portland Head Light, in Fort Williams Park. It's so beautiful there!

Then we went to this little cafe for lunch, they had some amazing food and wonderful coffee! {Hop over to SouleMama's blog to see her post about this spot}

Then we drove to this little light house,
 it's called Bug Light and I think it's completely charming. <3
Friday we drove around the Old Port, took pictures, ate bagels, and visited the art museum.
{BTW that's Henry Wadsworth-Longfellow- a local poet}

Inside the Portland art museum. We were there while there was a traveling Degas exhibit! {Squeal!}

This place was just down the street from our hotel, so cute!

AND, I got this while we were in Portland, it's a  big tote made out of an old coffee bean bag!

Tuesday & Wednesday in Maine

Tuesday and Wednesday were fantastic!
Tuesday morning I discovered that somehow, I'd managed to get a sunburn. After spending the day before outside {on a cold, cloudy Maine day} under an umbrella. Things that only happen to me...sigh. Tuesday we went to Alewives Fabrics store in Damariscotta, Maine. This fabric store is amazing! It's located in an old mill, and it has TONS of great fabric! We drove up from Portland on Route1, and it couldn't have been more beautiful!! After we bought far too much a substantial amount of fabric, and drove around the area for a bit. I'm completely in love with it!

We had a late lunch here, this restaurant was opened by Linda Bean, L.L.Bean's granddaughter.
BTW, the corn chowder there is incredible!!

Wednesday, we went to Alewives again, and took pictures in the fog.... so beautiful!

I'm going to be traveling home over the next two days, and classes start Monday, but hopefully I'll be able to finish posting about this week Monday afternoon!

Monday in Maine

This city is amazing. We're staying just a block away from the Old Port and the it couldn't be more beautiful!!
Monday, we went out with our umbrellas to see Portland in the rain. We wandered onto the north end of Congress Street [the central street in Portland]. We walked past vintage bookstores, a great yarn store, old churches, and several antique stores. We found a great pizza place called OTTO that serves pizza by the slice. Our favorites so far are the margherita, and the mashed potato & bacon pizzas. The rosemary, mint lemonade is yummy too!
